History

INFAI was founded in 1988 by Dr. Sitke Aygen at the University Witten-Herdecke.

Since 1990 INFAI has been working on numerous clinical studies for development of 13C breath tests, in order to fulfill the criteria for EU registration.

In 1991 the company transferred some areas of research into the Technology Center Bochum.

In 1997, INFAI received the Europe-wide registration of Helicobacter Test INFAI from the European Medicines Authority EMEA, London.

In 1998, TechnoMedia Kapitalbeteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, Cologne, became 12% shareholder of INFAI.

Also in 1998, installation of a production facility with a production capacity of 3 million kits per year was finished in the Technology Center Bochum.

In 2000, the Research and Marketing Department was transferred into Technology Center, Cologne. The production line remained in Bochum. Since then INFAI operates from the facilities in Cologne and Bochum.

Since 2001, INFAI developed several non-invasive breath tests, such as Pancreo-Lip, Gastromotal, Metabo-Test and Lactoin-Test. Further approvals for Helicobacter Test INFAI made it available in more than 34 countries worldwide.

In 2005, a new Helicobacter breath test for patients taking PPIs has been developed and filed for EU and US patent.

In 2006, INFAI submitted an application for the gastric emptying test Gastromotal by EMEA (European Medicines Agency, London). The approval will be valid in all European countries, due to a centralized procedure.

In 2007, INFAI received unlimited approval for Helicobacter Test INFAI by EMEA.

In 2008, INFAI bought back 12% of shares from its shareholders.

Also in 2008, several clinical trials were started for pharmaceutical companies.
