Analysis of Body Fluids

Analysis of Body Fluids

High resolution NMR Spectroscopy has become a highly significant technique in the analysis of body fluids (urine, serum, etc,.), tissue and living cell systems. Investigations of living cells have become increasingly important, particularly over the past few years.

2D COSY-spectra of human urine

The figure shows an image section from a 2D COSY spectra of human urine. This procedure is used to assign resonance signals to substances. For many substances, e. g. Urine and Serum of healthy human beings, the assigned resonance signals are known. The increase or decrease of specific metabolites or the appearance of specific metabolites can be detected in a just few minutes by 1D-NMR Spectroscopy.

13C-NMR spectroscopy is an important method for the analysis of metabolic processes. INFAI was the first company to produce and analyse sustainable human 13C-labelled antibodies.
