Metabolite Screening
INFAI possesses a wealth of experience concerning the detection of inborn and acquired metabolic diseases and the observation of therapeutic measures by NMR Spectroscopy. The user-friendly procedure involved in the metabolite screening of body fluids by NMR Spectroscopy helps ensure overall safety, cost-effectiveness and highly qualitative and quantitative results.
INFAI has conducted a number of different studies aimed at the analysis of human urine and, as such, has identified several metabolites that are indicative of metabolic diseases. The recently installed BEST-NMR system allows for the measurement and subsequent automatic metabolite screening of up to 500 samples per day.
INFAI manages a specialist library containing NMR spectra of a significant amount of different metabolites involved in human metabolism. Continuous research activities are conducted to extend and adapt this library in order to meet customer requirements.
Listed below are just a few examples from INFAI's field of experience. These demonstrate the enormous scope for detection provided by NMR-assisted metabolite screening:
Amino Acid Metabolism:
|
Lipid Metabolism: Keto Acid Catabolism: Pyrimidine Deficiency: |
Also, deficiencies can be detected by metabolite screening, for example Vitamin B12 deficiency, Ribovlavin deficiency, NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide level in urine) deficiency.
